In the casino slot online halo69 wake of this month’s Batgirl cancellation, many fans grew disappointed by Warner Bros. and its decision to scrap the $90 million film, which had already entered its post-production stage and was nearing completion. Now, looking to past movements like #ReleaseTheSnyderCut for inspiration, a group of fans are teaming up and holding on to hope for the film’s eventual release by trying to kickstart a #ReleaseBatgirl movement on Twitter.
On August 2, Warner Bros. announced that it had shelved Batgirl, the casino slot online upcoming movie starring Leslie Grace and directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The movie was also set to feature Michael Keaton’s return to the role of Batman and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon once again.
Understandably, the casino slot online news that Batgirl had been passed off as a tax write-off by Warner Bros. angered fans of the DCEU, many of whom had been looking forward to the movie since its inception in 2016.
These casino slot online fans wasted no time. Just hours after the announcement was made that Warner Bros. wouldn’t release the essentially completed movie, a small group of fans began pleading for Batgirl’s release with a new hashtag. While #ReleaseBatgirl is still a relatively small movement, it’s slowly but surely gaining traction within the community as its founders push for others to join in.

The Fans Behind #ReleaseBatgirl Speak Out About the Movement’s Origins
In the casino slot online days following Batgirl’s cancellation, I spoke with some of the community members hoping to start a #ReleaseBatgirl movement. Alex, who runs the unofficial @BatgirlFilm Twitter account and asked to have their last name omitted, spearheaded the movement after communicating with a fellow fan, Alastair Neil. Neil resides in Glasgow – the city where the movie was filmed – and had made numerous trips to the set of the movie with his daughter Isla. The Batgirl fandom even dubbed Isla “Glasgow’s Mini Batgirl.”
“All the crew made Isla feel like a star, and [the] icing on the cake was getting to meet the directors and Leslie,” Neil said via Twitter DMs. “It’s something we will always remember.”
So many happy memories from our visits to the set, really hope it gets released some day https://t.co/5XWI7JJ1kr pic.twitter.com/v3wXZzcNwF

When Batgirl was canceled, Neil, who had been in touch with casino slot online Alex about his many visits to the set, was upset to relay the news to Isla. “Alastair disclosed to me at the time he didn’t know how to break the news nor if he had the heart to do so,” Alex said. “This broke me and #ReleaseBatgirl was born.”
While the casino slot online hashtag was sparked by Neil’s story, Alex attributes the new movement to ultimately wanting justice for the movie’s crew.
“How do you cancel a casino slot online film that hadn’t even had a chance to prove itself?” Alex said. “ I knew firsthand the length the production crew and Director’s Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi put into this film. Also, this was a major blow to Leslie Grace. Never have I seen an actor as excited as her for the role, a role of a lifetime. I can’t stress this enough, the buzz for this film when it was in production was real.”
How do you cancel a film that hadn’t even had a chance to prove itself?
Some casino slot online fans have also deemed Batgirl’s cancellation unfair for numerous reasons. Warner Bros. initially justified the movie’s cancellation by pointing to the movie’s poor scores within testing groups, though many have pointed out that, according to Screen Rant, Black Adam received the same score and is still on the way.
Fans casino slot online have also spoken about how The Flash, which stars the newly notorious Ezra Miller, is still presumably on track to release next June despite the actor’s recent trouble with the law. In comparison, Batgirl was canceled without any publicized issues on the cast or crew’s part.
The Flash movie was announced in 2014 and even after everything Ezra Miller did it’s still not canceled but Batgirl, a film that was basically finished, is the one that got canceled ??!!! At least release the film digitally like Suicide Squad and Znyder’s cut!!!#releasebatgirl https://t.co/fuDOsKSJ4S

Some casino slot online have pointed out that the movie’s cancellation has created a massive loss of minority representation as well. Batgirl’s best friend, Alysia Yeoh, played by Ivory Aquino, would have been the first transgender character in a DC live action film. Grace’s Batgirl would also have been the first Latina portrayal of the character.
“One of the biggest casino slot online things I’ll be bummed about is never seeing one of DC’s best trans characters, Alysia Yeoh, finally in a movie (who would’ve been played by the trans actress Ivory Aquino!),” fan Clair Giovino said to me via Twitter DMs. “As a trans POC woman who was already getting tons of representation in this movie, this was a really special one I was hoping to see.”
A few casino slot online fans, including Neil, have even posted petitions online in hopes that Warner Bros. will walk back its decision after seeing fans back the movie. Though fans aren’t the only people upset about Batgirl’s fate — members of the movie’s crew, joined by other filmmakers, have also spoken up about the movie’s cancellation.
In the casino slot online days following the movie’s cancellation, Grace thanked fans via Instagram and El Arbi shared an image of Grace and Keaton in costume and on set. Filmmakers uninvolved with Batgirl also jumped in — Kevin Smith called the movie’s cancellation an “incredibly bad look” and questioned why it was canceled while The Flash is still on its way, and Kevin Feige, Edgar Wright, and James Gunn reached out to offer their support to the directors.
Could #ReleaseBatgirl become the new #ReleaseTheSnyderCut?
Because of the casino slot online outcry from fellow filmmakers, it’s hard not to draw parallels to the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement that erupted in 2018. The hashtag first appeared after Warner Bros. said it wouldn’t release original director Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League, with fans keeping the movement strong well after the movie’s original release. After two long years of fans petitioning, the Snyder Cut was announced in 2020 and released in 2021.
Now, casino slot online people participating in #ReleaseBatgirl are petitioning for Snyder Cut advocates to support their own movement, looking to the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement’s success for inspiration.
In casino slot online response, some participants of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement are joining in, even though they might not fully agree with the vision behind Batgirl.
As a day one supporter of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement I made it very clear that I supported artistic integrity and allowing a director to have their vision. I may not have always agreed with why the #Batgirl movie existed, but I don’t agree with shelving it. #ReleaseBatgirl

However, #ReleaseBatgirl’s reception within the Snyder Cut community hasn’t been fully positive. As #ReleaseTheSnyderCut was subjected to plenty of backlash in its first months, some Snyder Cut advocates have called back to 2018’s events to suggest that many current Batgirl fans were initially against the Snyder Cut and therefore might not be deserving of their help.
Some DC casino slot online fans have even celebrated Batgirl’s cancellation, claiming that Batgirl isn’t part of the future they’d like to see for the DCEU – in some cases because it marks a diversion from the ‘Snyderverse’ of movies they were hoping for.
Perhaps because of this fallout, #ReleaseBatgirl has yet to match the momentum generated by the Snyderverse and other fan movements.

Fans Weigh In On the Chances of Batgirl’s Release
Some have claimed that the casino slot online comparably small size of the #ReleaseBatgirl movement is because it’s in a different situation than the Snyder Cut — in Batgirl’s case, it’s technically impossible for the film to be released since it was shelved as a tax write-off. However, fans have proposed a few loopholes.
As pointed out by Alex, Warner Bros. could change its mind before filing casino slot online taxes, opening up a short window of hope for fans. Other fans have pushed for the movie to be released digitally (legally or through a leak) for free, which could still happen if Warner Bros. goes through with the write-off.
“Anything is possible,” Alex said. “The casino slot online Snyder Cut proved this and the #ReleaseTheAyerCut and #SaveOneDayAtATime movements are showing it could happen again.”
While some casino slot online fans don’t necessarily believe that Batgirl will eventually be released, plenty are still using the hashtag in hopes that it’ll teach Warner Bros. a lesson.
“I hope the casino slot online #ReleaseBatgirl movement shows Warner Brothers that we as fans shouldn’t have to be afraid that our favorite upcoming movie will get canceled overnight,” Oliver, who runs a Black Canary update account (and asked to have his last name omitted), said via Twitter. “It’s simply unfair and offensive towards us and the cast and crew.”
While the casino slot online movement is small and the chances of Batgirl’s revival are likely slim, dedicated fans are holding on to hope. To most people within the #ReleaseBatgirl camp, it doesn’t necessarily matter how the film is released — whether it’s via a leak or through Warner Bros. bringing back the initially planned HBO Max release, as long as fans get to see it in some form, they’ll be happy.
“We want to see casino slot online Batgirl on screen, we want the representation the movie offered, we want the action, the spectacle of experiencing the birth of a truly amazing superhero that has inspired millions,” Oliver said. “And it was taken away from us.”
